On July 22nd, 2020, former ASA ED Shaun Lowther released the latest rendition of ASA’s Return To Modified Games Guidelines

Cohort Usage affects Program Offering

The Return-To-Play guidelines place us currently into stage 2 with limited game play in cohorts of up to 50 players. Rockies has internally lowered the maximum amount of players by 20% to 40 to prevent the spread of the virus. We will continue to strife to fulfill and supersede the AHS/ASA guidelines.

CMSA has announced that indoor cohorts will be used to allow league play of three teams of 15 in players and coaches to work under the AHS cohort guidelines. Rockies will support this notion in most age groups.

U7/8 for players born in 2013/14 marks the only exception where team sizes of 15, playing 3v3 or 4v4, are not beneficial for player development. Instead, we will create our own cohorts for these groups and offer them higher value by running the practice sessions with our technical staff and playing weekend gymboree style, small-sided games.

Calgary Rockies will enter teams in CMSA in as many age groups and tiers as we can, with small rosters guaranteeing adequate playing time. U7/8 will have its own customized program.
