Safe Sport EducationThe Essential Training Before Working with any Family or Player
CMSA requires all team officials (coach, assistant coach, team manager) listed on CMSA rosters for league play, provincial competitions, tournaments, training, cultural exchange travel and national championships to have a current and valid police clearance to ensure the safest possible environment for youth soccer players. Police clearances are valid for three (3) years.
We will contact CMSA on your behalf and they will send you the registration letter required for the Police Clearance. If you live outside of the City of Calgary, you will have to take this to your closest RCMP station.
If your First Aid & CPR/AED Level C has expired, please contact Rhonda at Certified First Aid to book the next possible refresher or renewal. Calgary Rockies renewed its First Aid Certification in April of 2025, every 3 years.
There is one course that does not live in the Locker but is essential to your coaching experience. Please click on the icon on the right and take the Respect in Sport course. Please ensure that you finish the course and forward the Certificate to both info@rockiessoccer.ca (for validation) and admin@rockiessocccer.ca (to get reimbursed).
There are four more Safe Sport Courses to be completed. For each one, please inform info@rockiessoccer.ca once you have completed them. In order to successfully complete these modules, you will have to first log into your NCCP Locker again. Please click on the icon on the right.
Please note: to get credit, you need to be diligent and actually watch to the very end including credits. Ensure you have exited out of the module using the provided button at the end of the module. Otherwise, these courses could end up in your Locker as “In Progress”.

NCCP Making Headway in Sports – 2 hours

Emergency Action Plan – 15 min

Understanding the Rule of Two – 15 min

Making Ethical Decisions – 3 hours
Now that you have finished four of the five Safe Sport Education Modules, we come to Making Ethical Decision. MED is a more substantial course and can either be taken as an in-person course with an exam at a lower fee ($35) or the exam could be challenged ($85). Regardless, Calgary Rockies will reimburse the fees as long as you pass the course.
If you end up challenging the exam, you have two attempts to pass the course. If you choose this route, it is highly suggested that you take screenshots of each question so you can actually study and prepare for the correct answer.
NCCP THEORY AND PRACTICALThe Essential Training of How to Work with Players in Different Age Groups
Additionally to your Safe Sport Education, you will also need to complete NCCP Football specifc training for the age groups you will be coaching. Calgary Rockies will reimburse you for the Theory – please send your certificate to admin@rockiessoccer.ca. in order to get credit for the course, please email the same certificate to info@rockiessoccer.ca.
Calgary Rockies recommends that all coaches take all courses right away so you are able to potentially grow with the age group and club.

You only need the theory – this course covers you, if you coach Grassroots U7-U9.

You only need the theory - this course will give you the education to train U10 and U11.
